Not a promising day cold overcast and wet!! When will the spring arrive?

Not a lot of activity in the garden but one fascinating sight. You may recall that I have mentioned before that we think we have Blue Tits in nesting box 2 and that on previous occasions they have seen off first a Treecreeper and then a Nuthatch. Well this morning the Nuthatch was back and trying to get into the box. Now there is just one problem with this – the hole is too small. So the Nuthatch then decides to make it larger! He was drumming away just like a woodpecker for 10 minutes or so and then flew off. All this time there was a Blue Tit in a nearby bush but it made no attempt to chase the Nuthatch off as it had done previously. Perhaps it is considering that maybe this isn’t quite such a des-Res after all

Two pictures of the Blackeye galaxy taken using the Bradford Robotic telescope

Blackeye 1

Blackeye 2

The Blackeye galaxy (M64 or NGC 4826) was discovered in 1779. It contains a large dust cloud in the centre of the galaxy which absorbs light and gives rise to its name.It contains evidence of two colliding galaxies.
